Looks Great Naked

Grace Adams has it all under control. True, she can’t order anything through the mail for fear her dachshunds, Laverne and Shirley, will intercept and eat the contents, and she’s still carrying a few extra pounds from the birth of her kindergartener, but the rest of her life – marriage, kids, house, even her tennis game – is picture perfect.

At least it is until the day her mother hands her a diet and exercise book called Look Great Naked and says, “I think your husband’s having an affair.” As the façade begins to crumble, Grace realizes that looking great naked means having nothing to hide. It’s accepting yourself exactly the way you are -- right here, right now, flaws, wrinkles, knots, bumps, lumps, bad attitude and all.

The Proposal

Book Description

5 out of 5 star reviews

The Proposal (Perfect Match Series) by Lily Zante is, for me, a true romance story. It is about the meeting, the awkwardness, the awareness, the doubts, and the hopes of two people who quickly start to fall in love. Their romance involves the heat of passion which is put on hold, a decision that I felt was realistic considering the newness of the relationship. I appreciated the characters having room within the story to fully engage in all their relationships.
I had to put the book aside when half read. I soon realized that I was wondering what each character would do next.
I would recommend The Proposal by Lily Zante to those looking for an entertaining weekend read with memorable characters.

Shirley Link & The Safe Case

Who is Shirley Link?
"I put on my kindest face for the poor man. I even smile a little. Marie slashes her fingers across her neck, telling me to stop with the fake grin. She must think I look creepy again. I keep smiling, though. I need to practice. I have a problem with people thinking I'm mean." - Shirley Link
And so it goes, for Shirley Link. Brilliant, brazen and still a whole year away from her driver's permit. Sure, she's only 14 years old and has homework to do, but she'll put it aside for the right mystery!

Shirley Link's kickoff adventure pits her against a thief who's stolen thirty thousand dollars from her school's safe. Usually, she'd wrap that kind of case up before The Big Bang Theory. But there's one intriguing, frustrating detail. The half-ton safe disappeared too!
Shirley must find the culprit quickly, or else her beloved principal, Mr. Reese, will lose his job. As she digs deeper, Mr. Reese looks more and more guilty. Will Shirley save him, or get him tossed in jail?

"This is how it is to be Shirley Link, the best detective in the world, if I do say so myself. I can spot a lie like most people spot a zit. I see connections where they hide best. And I get in trouble every time I try to tell people what I do with my free time. Only a handful know about my talent. I prefer to keep it that way." - Shirley Link

Was It A Rat I Saw

SYNOPSIS:
Neuropsychologist Clare Austen conducts research on the leading edge of reality. She has been intending to cease her experiments with Tommy Dabrowski before she becomes too emotionally involved with this appealing but married rock musician. Then personal considerations are swept aside by a high-voltage chain of terrifying events, which begins when Clare's mentor - the eminent Dr. Stanford Colton - is murdered in his university office. The only person to encounter the killer is Clare's most problematic experimental subject. But Tommy is a split-brain patient: only half his brain can still communicate to the outside world - and it's the other half that's a witness to murder. Clare's academic work now takes on a sharp urgency. Only by cracking Tommy's neural codes can she unlock the deadly secret trapped in the silent half of his brain.

As fresh crimes slash through the research community, the usually cautious Clare plunges into the investigation, despite threats to her life and the chief detective's severe warnings against interference in his case. Plagued by turbulent memories and unnerving suspicions, Clare must adapt her esoteric experiments to life-or-death stakes, in the wild hope of extracting a clue to the killer's elusive identity. Before she and Tommy are through, they discover great horror on that edge of reality.
